About ADHD Unlocked
ADHD Unlocked exists to make ADHD easier to understand for children, adults and the people who support them — calmly, practically and without overwhelm.

Meet Finn the Focus Fox
Finn is our guide character. He appears in our children's videos and across this site to keep explanations friendly, consistent and easy to follow. Finn looks and behaves the same everywhere, so younger viewers always recognise him.
Why I created ADHD Unlocked
I'm Mike Bates, the founder of ADHD Unlocked.
I found out I had ADHD around two years ago. As I started learning more about it, certain things from my life began to make more sense — things I'd found confusing, areas where I'd struggled, and times when I'd felt as though something was slowing me down without really understanding why.
Learning about ADHD didn't suddenly answer everything, but it gave me a different way of understanding some of those experiences.
It also made me realise just how much information there is to navigate. When you're already feeling overwhelmed or simply trying to understand yourself, finding clear and useful information can become another challenge in itself.
That's a big part of why I created ADHD Unlocked.
I wanted to build somewhere that makes learning about ADHD feel calmer, clearer and easier to navigate — whether you're an adult trying to understand your own experiences, a parent supporting a child, or a young person looking for answers.
I'm not a doctor or psychologist, and ADHD Unlocked isn't a diagnostic or treatment service. My role is to build the platform, ask questions, make complex information easier to understand and ensure appropriate content goes through the proper sourcing and review process before it's published.
Ultimately, I built ADHD Unlocked because I want to help people understand themselves a little better and make their next step feel a little easier.

How our content is made
Every guide and video is drafted, checked against sources, and then reviewed by a person before anything is published. Content that touches health topics cannot be published until it has named authorship, appropriate sources and, where required, review by a suitably qualified person.
Nothing on this site publishes automatically. Publication is always an explicit human decision.
Our principles
- Calm by design: no pop-ups, no adverts, no autoplay, no pressure to buy anything.
- Accessible: readable contrast, generous spacing, full keyboard use, reduced motion respected.
- Honest: we say what we don't know, and we never claim to diagnose or treat.
- Practical: one small, doable step at a time.
