Plain-language answers about how this site's content is checked, published and reviewed — and what happens to anything you send us.

How our content is reviewed

Nothing appears on the public site by accident. A guide or video is only visible here once it has been marked published, sits in our live (not test) environment, and has passed our internal approval step. Drafts, work in progress and anything created for testing stay private — they are blocked at the database level, not just hidden from menus.

Being published means we consider a page ready to read. It does not automatically mean the page is the right fit for every reader or every age group.

Medical review

Where a guide makes health claims, it is flagged as requiring medical review and cannot become public until that review has been recorded as approved. That check is enforced by the system, not left to memory.

Not every page carries health claims, so not every page is medically reviewed. We do not describe this site as clinically approved or medically certified, and nothing here is a diagnosis or a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

Young-person content

Content for young people is handled separately. A guide only appears in the young-person area if it has been explicitly approved for that audience and safeguarding-reviewed, and that approval is recorded against the page itself.

General public content is never automatically treated as young-person approved, and a video labelled for children in our production system does not gain young-person approval from that label alone.

Sources and references

Where a guide has references, they are listed at the bottom of that page, with the publisher and year when we hold them. Listing a source shows where information came from; it does not by itself replace the editorial and medical review steps described above.

Videos

Public videos pass the same publication gate as guides: published, live environment, and a real published video link. Videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain and only start when you press play. Young-person suitability for videos remains a separate, explicit approval.

Reporting problems

If something looks wrong, unsafe, broken or hard to use, please tell us.

Report a problem

That form is not monitored as an emergency service. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Young people can also tell an adult they trust.

Community

Community is a space where adults share their own experiences. Those posts are written by members: they are not written, checked or endorsed by ADHD Unlocked, and they are not reviewed guidance or medical advice. Community is not continuously monitored, and it is not intended for urgent support.

Privacy and data minimisation

We ask for as little as possible, and only where it is needed.

  • “Was this helpful?” stores only which page it refers to, whether the answer was yes or no, and the time. No name, email, account, free text, health information or location.
  • Problem reports store the category you choose, the description you write, an email address only if you choose to give one, and — when you start the report from a page — a reference to that public page.
  • Neither of these can be read back by the public, and neither is linked to any account — so they cannot be shown to you, or removed, through your account.
  • Optional accounts. You can read everything here without signing in. An account exists only so you can keep a private saved list and private Toolkit notes. There are no public profiles, no comments, no messaging and no sharing between users — nobody else can see what you save or write.
  • Trigger Reflection. If you choose to use it, what you write is private account data. It is never shown publicly or to other people, and it is not analysed, scored or interpreted by AI. It is included in your data export, and it is deleted with your account.
  • You can remove individual saved items, Toolkit notes and reflections at any time, download a copy of your account data, or delete your account entirely from My ADHD Unlocked.
  • The young-person journey and library never ask for an account, and never require one.
